Potluck Snack Food Recipe Library Ham and Cheese Cakes If someone was unfamiliar with the English language, and heard someone order a Hamburger, then this is what they may be thinking of. Actually this "ham cake" is more like a "Crab cake" only it's Ham as opposed Crab. It can be cooked in a number of different ways, baked, fryed, deep-fried, or broiled. Either way, it's really good and makes a delicious snack food served hot, or at room temperature, try out this snack for your next sports gathering, tailgate or party.

1 lb. Ham, ground finely 1. In a large bowl, combine the ground ham, diced pepper and shredded cheese.. Mix well to evenly distribute the ingredients. 2. Season the ham and cheese mixture with the Tabasco, mushroom dust, and Black Pepper. You don't really need salt as the ham and cheddar add enough of the salt content. 3. A little at a time, mix in the lightly beaten egg, until you have enough to bind all of the ingredients together. Cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour to setup. 4. Remove from the refrigerator, and shape them into balls, patties whichever you prefer. Place them on a baking sheet and back in the fridge. Now you can choose whether you want to bread them, or just fry them in a little fat in a frying pan. In this recipe I used a 12" fry pan and made one large ham cake and baked it in a 350 degree oven for about 12-15 minues, and now it is ready to be cut into wedges.
